You’ve got an outstanding idea.
Let’s transform it into a stand-out design.

Pumapapel is the Philippines’ pioneer paper engineering studio. We design for brands, publishers, and cultural institutions worldwide. We take on a small number of projects at a time, so every one gets our full attention.

Who we work with

Our best projects start with a client who has a clear creative goal, a realistic timeline, and an openness to the process. We bring the expertise; you bring the vision. When those two things meet, the results are worth it.

  • Publishers producing interactive or pop-up books
  • Brands creating premium experiential materials
  • Cultural institutions building exhibition collateral
  • Creative teams with a brief, a budget, and time to do it right

If that sounds like you, we’d love to hear about your project.

WHAT’S INCLUDED IN YOUR DESIGN FEE

Discovery Call
A free one-hour conversation before any work begins. We use this to understand your goals, timeline, and scope. You get to ask us all your questions. This is where we figure out if we’re the right fit for each other.

Original Paper Engineering Design
The core of what we do. We design original mechanisms engineered specifically for your project. Dielines are included for hand-off to the printer.

Graphic Design and Layout
We layout text and graphics, plus brand assets you provide to match your brand’s visuals. Final artwork files are included for hand-off to the printer.
*Includes layout and brand asset integration. Original illustration is scoped separately (see below).

Revision Rounds
Two rounds of structured feedback built into your project timeline. We refine the engineering based on your input before anything is finalized.

Mock-up
A handmade physical sample of your design. May be in white (to show structure and movement), or in color (to show the full visual). This is how you see and test the design before it goes to production.

Production-Ready Files
Final print and dieline files, prepared and handed over so your design is ready for a printer to produce.

OTHER SERVICES

Prototype
We can produce a high-quality prototype of your final design. This is available as an add-on to your scope in small quantities (<5 pcs). If you need more, we’ll connect you to a trusted printer for mass production.

Original Illustrations
Not included in the design fee.
If your project needs illustration, we can work with your existing artist or connect you with someone from our network. Either way, it’s treated as a separate scope with its own timeline and rate.

Production
Not included in the design fee.
For mass printing, we connect you with trusted printers from our network who have experience producing pop-up work. Their pricing and timeline is theirs to quote, and we’ll help you navigate that conversation.

TIMELINE & AVAILABILITY

Great design is worth the time.

Brand and marketing materials typically run 4 to 12 weeks. Pop-up books and complex projects may run 3 to 6 months.

We don’t take rush jobs, not because we can’t move fast, but because good paper engineering takes time to get right.

If you’re planning ahead, you’re already our kind of client.

HOW IT WORKS

From first message to finished design.

1. SUBMIT YOUR PROJECT BRIEF

Tell us about your project: the vision, the timeline, what you’re trying to achieve. We read every submission carefully, so the more you share, the better we can prepare. We don’t accept project inquiries by email; the brief is the starting point.

2. DISCOVERY CALL

If your project looks like a good fit, we’ll reach out within 3–5 business days to schedule a one-hour Discovery Call. This is where we dive into your goals, timeline, and scope together. You get to ask us everything.

3. YOUR PROPOSAL

After the call, we’ll put together a tailored proposal: scope, deliverables, timeline, and pricing. From there, if everything feels right, we get started.

Have a project in mind?

Fill out the project brief and tell us what you’re building.
We’ll take it from there.

frequently asked questions

What if I don’t have a complete brief yet?

That’s fine. The brief doesn’t need to be perfect, just honest. Share what you know: what you’re trying to make, roughly when you need it, and what you’re hoping it will do for your audience. We’ll help you develop the details from there during the Discovery Call.

Can you work with my illustrator?

Yes, and we do this often. If your project has an illustrator already attached, we’ll coordinate directly with them on dimensions, layers, and how the illustration needs to be prepared for the engineering. If you need an illustrator, we can connect you with artists from our network. Either way, illustration is a separate scope from the paper engineering — we’ll make sure the proposal reflects that clearly.

What’s the difference between a mock-up and a prototype?

A mock-up is a handmade sample (usually white or in color) that shows the structure and movement of the design. It’s what we use during the revision process and what you’ll receive as part of your deliverables.

A prototype is a more polished, production-accurate sample made closer to the final materials. This is an optional add-on for projects heading into mass production.

What about printing and mass production?

Our scope covers final design files up to a full-color prototype. We don’t manage mass production in-house, but we’ll connect you with trusted print partners who have experience producing pop-up work. Their timeline and pricing is separate from ours, and we’ll help you ask the right questions when that conversation happens.

Do you take rush projects?

Very rarely, and only if the scope is genuinely simple. For most projects, a rushed timeline means compromised engineering, and we’d rather tell you that upfront than deliver work we’re not proud of. If your timeline is tight, share it in the brief and we’ll be honest about whether it’s workable.
