Empowering Women Entrepreneurs: Protecting Your Creative Ideas

Building a business takes vision, resilience, and a deep commitment to the work we create. But in creative industries, it also takes protection—of our ideas, our designs, and the things we build from the ground up.

This was the heart of the conversation at the IPMC Women’s Trailblazers Panel 2023, hosted by Benilde’s Intellectual Property Management Center. I had the honor of speaking alongside Allyza Cepeda (Jane Dough) and Camille Alba (Everything Green), two fellow founders who are reshaping their industries.

Together, we explored what it means to be a woman entrepreneur today—the opportunities, the unique challenges, and the strategies we use to navigate them. One of the most powerful takeaways? Creative work needs protection.

For Pumapapel, intellectual property isn’t just a legal consideration—it’s part of our growth strategy. While we’re still in the early stages of protecting our own IP, we recognize its importance and are actively exploring the best ways to safeguard our future innovations. Every brand, product, and design we create carries our identity, and securing that work ensures that we can continue to innovate and thrive.

The reality is that many founders overlook the importance of IP until it’s too late. But knowledge is power, and understanding how to safeguard your ideas is a step toward building something that lasts.
