No Plastic, No Glue: Efficient Paper Packaging Design for Crayons

At Pumapapel, we thrive on creative problem-solving. Recently, we were approached by a client with a unique packaging challenge:

✅ Package their coloring books with crayons

✅ No plastic, no glue, and minimal material use

✅ Must be functional, durable, and sustainable

The solution? A single-piece paperboard structure that securely wraps around the coloring book, holding the crayons in place—without the need for adhesives.

This project was an exciting exercise in engineering efficiency. The design had to be sturdy, easy to assemble, and practical for both packaging and retail display. After several prototypes, we developed two variations:

🔹 Version 1: A fully enclosed design for a clean, minimalist look

🔹 Version 2: A windowed version, allowing customers to see the crayons inside

This is the kind of work we love at Pumapapel—solving design challenges through smart, intentional paper engineering. If you have a unique packaging challenge, let’s talk. We’d love to help you bring it to life. Let’s talk!
